Collected information will be used to support a submission regarding the protection of the area around Moon Island with the NSW State Government's current Marine Parks Proposal for the coast between Newcastle and Woolongong particularly noting there are NO protected marine.

This is a great introduction to sea kayaking paddle in Blacksmiths, about half an hour south of Newcastle. The trail begins at Boat Rowers Reserve, where there is parking, picnic tables, and access to the water via a boat ramp. The trail heads out onto the pacific ocean, around Moon Island, then back into the Swansea Channel. From here you'll paddle under the Swansea Bridge and north up.
